Yelo Limited, a leading employer in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) sector in Northern Ireland has signed up to the STEM Charter to demonstrate its commitment to improving gender balance in the workplace.
The Northern Ireland STEM Charter was launched in June 2014 and is committed to ensuring that men and women have equality of opportunity in terms of accessing jobs in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In particular the STEM Charter recognises the specific need to address the current underrepresentation of women in STEM jobs.
Yelo’s Director Lynn Good said “We are delighted to sign the ECNI STEM Charter and look forward to working with the STEM network in delivering equality in the workplace. For the past few years, Yelo have been engaging with local schools encouraging engineering as a career choice and we hope that by inspiring at the age where career paths are chosen, we help influence more girls to choose the path of engineering.”
