Carrickfergus based manufacturing company Yelo has donated £5,000 of matched funding to a humanitarian aid organisation to help with its work with refugees.
Yelo matched donations to Concern Worldwide up to a total of £5,000 for one day as an incentive to people taking part in the charity’s Ration Challenge.
The challenge encourages people across the UK to eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan, for seven days – just a small amount of rice, beans, flour, lentils, chickpeas, fish and oil.
So far, the Ration Challenge has raised £1.17 million this year thanks to the support of Yelo, other matched funding partners, and the participation of almost 4,400 people across the UK. The money raised will help provide emergency food, hygiene kits and life-saving support to refugees and displaced people in countries affected by conflict and disaster.
