Northern Ireland manufacturer Yelo is responding to the UK’s shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) by utilizing its in-house 3D printing capability to make face shield parts for front line healthcare workers battling COVID-19.
Yelo will be supplying 25 sets of printed parts a week to Belfast firm Axial3D who will complete the assembly process of the shields by adding the clear plastic and the elastic headband.
Richard Furey, Managing Director of Yelo said “We understand just how much NHS workers are risking and how much they are giving to help everyone. We really want to give back to them and help in any way we can.”
Most of the shields will be delivered to local areas but some will also be shipped to mainland UK.
