The prestigious export award, recognising Yelo’s success in export to countries such as USA, China and Thailand was collected during at a Gala ceremony in the Loughshore Hotel in Carrickfergus.
The company launched in 1983 and has developed test equipment for the Photonics, Electronics and Defence Industries. In particular, Photonics has been the driving force for Yelo's growth in recent years with the company opening a brand new 25,000 sq ft facility and plans to open a China office later this year. Yelo tests the reliability of lasers used in fibre optic communications with USA and China being the biggest markets for this technology. As well as this, Yelo deals locally within the UK and Ireland building test equipment and fixtures for PCB's and general electronic products.
Yelo's Director David Sinclair explains that “this award is special because it brings us closer to the local community of Carrickfergus. What we do is so specialised, so we don't do much business locally. This award is a great way to show that we exist within the local community and that there are big things going on in Carrickfergus”.
The Carrickfergus Business Awards, running for its second year continue the theme of ‘’promoting excellence in business’’. The awards are aimed at recognising the talent, entrepreneurship and excellence that exists across the full range of business and commerce in the area, paying homage to the long history of individual and collective industry upon which local towns have taken root and flourished and the companies which carry on that tradition today.
